APRIL 5

Matthew 26:36-38 “then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples…tarry ye here and watch with Me.”

Remember to read “My Utmost for His Highest” for Today

I’LL NEVER HAVE

I will never have a Gethsemane because Christ suffered for me.

He recognized the evil of sin and volunteered to die on that tree.

He asked His disciples to pray with Him. They fell asleep when they prayed.

They didn’t understand Jesus’ agony or the penalty of sin that He paid.

I don’t need to go to Calvary. Jesus finished the work. Mercy won.

God could not view humanities’ sin so God turned His Back on His Son.

I’ll never have to die alone. God will walk through death’s valley with me.

Through the valley of every day care my Guide and Companion He’ll be.

Jesus is coming, oh glorious thought. Jesus promised to return some day.

I’ll only need a temporary grave, because I won’t have long there to stay.

So if my Lord impresses me to pray, I will remember the cost of the cross.

Tarrying a while as I watch and pray because souls without Christ are lost.

POINTS to PONDER or Journal Jottings: It has been said that Jesus’ body sustained every type of human physical wound before He finally died in excruciating agony. List the types of wounds known to the human body. (whip, cut, puncture, etc.) Imagine enduring all of them all at once. Remembering that Jesus chose to die on the cross and He embraced the cross for us, write a letter of gratitude to Him. Journal the impact His death has had on your present life.  How does Christ’s death and resurrection affect your relationships with other people?

Dear Lord, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank You for choosing to love me that much. Help me to never forget the agony of the cross. Keep my heart focused on Your redemptive gift of eternal life. Thank You for the eternal homes You are preparing for all those who are born again. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
