Luke 18:22-“Yet lackest thou one thing, sell all that thou hast…and come follow me.”
Remember to read “My Utmost for His Highest” for Today
The wealthy young ruler’s disappointment limped away with his grief.
He had come to Jesus with an agenda and did not receive his relief.
The Savior had gently listened, giving instructions what to sell.
His worldly goods held value and his successful countenance fell.
He planned to come with gladness. He wanted to come with clout.
But he could not come in obedience turning his securities inside out.
Jesus’ instructions were clear and simple, leaving the decision entirely to him.
Turning away in dejection, he found that his precious possessions possessed him.
God calls us across His wide heaven. “What wealth of this world do you hold?
Have material blessings become a priority? Is what you worship leaving you cold?
Sell what possesses the possessor. Use your wealth and give to the poor.
Jesus needs your freedom as you serve Him. Beware of Satan’s subtle allure.
