BLACK AND WHITE |
Eight -year old Melissa was enjoying looking at old family albums. She was happy to see the photos of Grandma Beverly and Grandpa Bill when they were about her age.
Melissa’s questions were heart warming and nostalgic for her grandparents.
Finally, there was silence. Melissa was pondering all she had seen and heard. Then Melissa asked.
“Did the world use to be all black and white? When did it change color?”
With a smile, Grandpa Bill explained about films, developing and color changes.
Melissa knows all about digital cameras but black and whites held fascination for her.
Technology has come a long way but warm family memories haven’t changed a bit!
The basics of life should be cherished, no matter how faded they become at times.
Photography has changed a great deal since Grandma and Grandpa were eight years old.
Black isn’t black anymore, and white is no longer white.
Color enhances everything in life, or does it?
What about the TEN COMMANDMENTS? They were written in black and white.
They were meant t o be taken literally.
God is to be God. But we honor possessions, status or accomplishments.
Swearing is swearing. We call it self- expression. (Nanny calls it bad manners!)
Worship is worship. A day of rest is good for everyone’s stress levels.
Honoring parents is honoring. Some say that parents have messed up and don’t deserve it.
Killing is killing. We have lost respect for human life. Partial births included.
Adultery is adultery. The excuse given is , “but she’s the only one who understands me.”
Sin is sin. We dismiss sin as an experience and experiment with all life has to offer.
Evil is evil. What used to shock us becomes labeled “cultural development.”
Stealing is stealing. We say, “Possession is 9/10ths of the law.” Who’s law?
Lying is still lying. We say, “I was trying to be diplomatic.”
Covetness is coveting. Our contentment level is almost at zero. Credit cards are full.
Jealousy is jealousy. There is no space for jealousy in a heart that celebrates personal uniqueness intended by a loving God.
P.S. God intended black to be black and white to be white, do we?
