DADDY’S FRAGRANCE
When I was a child, my Dad would hug me good-bye before he left for work.
Dad wore plenty of OLD SPICE cologne. At times, during the day, I could smell whiffs of my Daddy’s fragrance remaining with me because I had been in my Daddy’s arms. Time lingering with the Father, brushes fragrance of Himself of us.
We can become more like Him as we spend time learning about Him from His Words to us, The Bible. We will begin to resemble His characteristics and attitudes when we linger in His Presence, praying. The fragrance of Himself will be upon us. Have you had your Hug from the Father today?
MY FATHER’S FRAGRANCE
I was late to the breakfast table, quickly whispering my own Grace.
Reminding us to hurry, Mom said, “Brush your teeth and wash your face!”
But Daddy was already waiting, already filling his coffee mug.
He said, “Child, come here to Daddy, I want to give you a good-bye hug.”
All day long I smelled his perfume. I thought “OLD SPICE” was only Dad’s.
I breathed all day his fragrance, to my clothing his presence clad.
Lord, may YOUR fragrance rest and linger on whatever I do today
So that folk around sense Jesus, no matter what I do or say!
