HE TRIED
He tried to plead his good looks,
His intelligence, brawn and fame
But God said, “None of this matters,
In yourself, there’s no merit to claim”
He tried to persuade with influence,
His generosity and wisdom proclaimed
But God said, “Child I love you.
Do not boast, You are called by My Name.
I’ve called you to come to My Party.
It’s a celebration in freedom for you.
I died and for you was resurrected
Providing eternal life and My blessings too.
Come as you are, stripped naked.
Clear all the entanglements of the past”
He said, “I come alone and unworthy”
Jesus says, “ Your heart is finally ready at last”

DEAR LORD, Thank you that because of Your shed blood I am sanctified and worthy forever. Help me to be transparent and real in all my social circumstances. Forgive me for trying to be perfect in the eyes of others. Help me to remember that You were and are the only perfect Person who ever lived on this earth. Thank you for Your sinless life.
