FATHER’S DAY
My Father is not with me, he’s with the Lord today
But he still has profound influence in all I do and say.
My Father was ambitious, rising early to shine his shoes.
My Father dressed like a banker with spats and a brief case too.
My Father read his Bible. He’d make notes along the way.
I have his sacred volume. I can study with my Dad today.
My Father drove us to Sunday School, asking us to sing along.
I’ll never forget the blessing of our family enjoying a song.
Our parents had five children. There was variety in us all.
Dad rejoiced with gratitude if any of us answered God’s call.
My Dad was not a preacher. He only sang a solo in fun.
Dad was my hero and mentor because he led me to God’s Son.
My Dad knew the gospel story. He had come to Christ as a man.
He faithfully lived for Jesus and tried to follow God’s plan.
On Father’s day and Christmas, at birthdays and wedding “doos”,
We thank God for our Father and we think of his dimples too!
