DEPRESSION

Depression is a funny thing. It can burrow deeply leaving a mark.

But God says, “Child, I am lovingly aware when life seems dreary and dark.

Depression could be a jump- start, a place for hope to begin.

God wants to mend each broken place that Satan sought to win.

God can birth a sacred surprise that depression scrambles to control.

If God is allowed to enter in, His Presence makes wounded hearts whole.

Be alert in your depression state. Assess with truth what is hidden there.

Begin to count each blessing found.  God will lead you out of despair.

Depression attacks a weary heart. Depression binds truth in defeat.

But God says, “Child let me comfort you. Now rest in My Arms and sleep.”

After the night, the morning comes. After depression comes joy.

God has a plan for everyone’s life, let’s see what God will deploy.

Move past the pain to the party begun. Move past the hurts to the joy.

God has a plan as His healing comes.  God created your life to enjoy.

JOURNAL JOTTINGS: Elijah was depressed.  All honest people admit to suffering from bouts of depression. Welcome to a “normal human weakness” club! List the causes of depression.  Journal God’s ideas to lift depression. (No, not to buy a batch of chocolate éclairs!) What part does God given obedience play in healing of depression? Psalm 51:10-“Create in me a clean heart, oh God and renew a right Spirit within me”.

Write this verse substituting your name for “me”. Make it a prayer. Praise Him.

DEAR LORD, Thank you for allowing me to recognize my human frailties. Thank you for the truth that when I come to the end of myself You were waiting all the time.  Thank You for the tenderized ministry that results in being transparently obedient in Your Presence. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
