FRAGRANCE OF PRAYER
As there are exciting, unique ways that folk come to Christ, so there are numerous creative ways to pray. God is delighted when His children pray. We were created to be a joy and a companion to the Father. We were created in His image.
Did anyone ever tell you how much you resemble a family member? Your disposition, you mannerisms and your thinking patterns are often parallel. How wonderful it would be if we were so in connected to our heavenly Father that people say we resemble HIM with our mannerisms, our thinking patterns and maybe even our dispositions!
When I was a child, my Dad would hug me good-bye while leaving for his work.
Dad wore plenty of OLD SPICE cologne. At times during the day, I would smell wisps of my Daddy’s fragrance remaining with me because I had been in my Daddy’s arms. Time lingering with the Father brushes the fragrance of Himself on us.
We can become more like Him as we spend time learning about Him from His words to us, the Bible. We will begin to resemble His characteristics and attitudes when we spend time in His Presence, praying. Have you had your hug from the Father today?
Praying is work. Praying takes time. Praying is an eternal investment.
Prayer produces results and prayer changes things. Your time is your own. Only you and your loving heavenly Father know how much time you invest in Him. Let’s become prayer saturated Pilgrims!
MY FATHER’S FRAGRANCE
I was late to the breakfast table,
Quickly whispering my own Grace.
Reminding us to hurry, Mom said,
“Brush your teeth and wipe your face!”
But Daddy was already waiting
Quickly filling his coffee mug
He said “Child, come here to Daddy
I want to give you a good-bye hug.”
All day long I smelled his perfume.
I thought “Old Spice” was only Dad’s
I breathed with joy his fragrance
To my clothes his presence clad.
Lord, may Your fragrance rest and linger
On whatever I do today
So that folk around sense Jesus
