GOD’S BATTERIES
All evening the family had been running out to the porch to see the progress of the lunar eclipse.
Little Joey had been tagging along listening to the comments of his parents and older siblings. Joey didn’t understand about eclipses but he did understand about being allowed to stay up past his bedtime. (Joey was usually the first in bed every night at his house.) Joey was also delighted with the yummy popcorn Mommy made to munch on while all the family were watching the eclipse together.
The next morning at breakfast, Joey’s older brother said, “What did you see last night, Joey? What was happening to the moon?”
Joey replied, “I saw the moon go dark for a while. God was changing His batteries.”
“What size were they?” asked his brother,
“The BIG ones.” said Joey.
Family time is scarce and schedules are full.
Popcorn and togetherness are almost as rare as lunar eclipses.
The sun will set and the moon will rise, as seasons come and go
But only the time spent with the family
Will warm those kid’s hearts as they grow.
Let’s not miss the joy of togetherness. Let’s create excuses to make popcorn!
It might even recharge YOUR batteries!
“Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together”

Dear God,
Thank you for Your eclipse the other night, but You do need the BIG batteries.
Love, Joey
