2 Peter 1:5-“And besides this…add..”

Please remember to read “My Utmost for His Highest” for Today

Introduction- This devotional was inspired by Jim Bakker who tells of cleaning the filthy latrines in prison. He began to rejoice in the humiliation, because it was the only time he could be entirely alone with his Lord. His guards could not tolerate the stench.

SERVANTHOOD

Drudgery is the touchstone of true character.

“Basin and towel” ministry becomes realistically plain.

Slop buckets, scouring and filth cleansing

Affect attitudes of servant hearts without chains.

No name, no audience and no glory.

No acclaimed fame or fortune this way.

But mundane duties completed for Jesus

Guarantees an anointing in His Presence to stay.

Lord, May we respond to every task for your Service

With a love offering of ministry for You.

So whatever humble task is presented

May this servant disappear from full view.

The attitude that is offered is a love gift.

Viewing the Man who died on that cross

So any servant who chooses to kneel there

Realizes the relief of not being the boss!

Ponder or Journal-What is the most degrading task you have every performed? Knowing what you know now about a servant’s heart, how might you have coped differently? What part does attitude have in these assignments? Journal  your before and after thoughts. What lessons are you learning?

Dear Lord, Thank you for the privileges of service. Keep me trusting you, when even more pressures and impositions come my way. Keep my heart attitude sweet before You.

Make me a blessing through every mundane event of life. Help me to be an encourager

To everyone I meet who is serving you with a servant’s heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
