LAUGH LINES

Did I put a smile on Your face, dear Lord,

Today as I said my prayers?

Did You chuckle along with me a while

When that joke refreshed my cares?

Did Your smile relax in the setting sun

When I held that baby close?

I hope it gave You pleasure Lord,

Perhaps You enjoyed it the most!

Did You clap with joy, when our child was born?

Did You smile when our love was new?

Did You burst out laughing with all of us

When our surprises were carried through?

Did You rejoice when our son made the team?

Were You cheering him along?

I think that You were happy for us

Because he finally felt he belonged.

Dear Lord, I know You have a smile

Because I’ve felt it caress my face.

I wonder if the smile of God

Has any laughter lines in place?

I’d like to think that through my life

I’ve brought my Father joy.

I worship at my Savior’s Feet

And songs of praise employ.

Today as I go about my tasks

Help me to create some fun.

May I collect much laughter, Lord

From now ‘til setting sun.
