Luke 9:61-“Lord, I will follow You.”

Please remember to read “My Utmost for His Highest” for  Today

Introduction- Have you ever been led to do something that did not make sense, but that you knew was God’s Idea?

COMMON SENSE

Lord, “I pride myself in my wisdom.

Carefully using innate common sense.

God says, “Child, without question

Common sense is in the practical tense.

But today, try forging ahead My way.

Try listening without argument to Me.

When I give a Command, simply follow

Even unexplored horizons for thee.

Because you are obeying My leading.

Because you are trusting Me more

Several personal controls you’ll relinquish

As My solid sense is brought to the fore.”

Walk on, dear Pilgrim as you listen.

Release all your “But God” s today.

Knowing there is trust in His leading

God’s hand will hold you steady always.

*********

Lord, Thank You for the privilege of learning.

Following Jesus is practical today.

Thank you for Your Patience and Persistence.

Help me follow Your Divine Sense all the way.

Journal Jottings or Points to Ponder- Why is common sense such a strong life influence? Who controls and receives the honor if common sense prevails?

List the times when following common sense became a disaster. How did you solve it?

Dear Jesus, Thank you  for understanding the security, yet frailty of my common sense. Give me the faith to trust Your wisdom more each day. Help me to consider my God given common sense, but not enough to stifle trusting and obeying You. Help me to follow Your leading when my faith is weak. Lord help my unbelief. For Jesus’ Sake. Amen.
