WHAT YOU NEED!
Mommy was very ill with the current ‘flu bug.
Emily was trying to play as quietly as any high maintenance four-year-old can!
Mommy would doze and wake intermittently on the nearby sofa.
Emily would glance at Mommy from time to time, realizing how ill Mommy was.
Suddenly, Emily abruptly left the room declaring, “I know what you need!”
Mommy could hear rustling and rumbling upstairs from the toy box in Emily’s bedroom.
Eventually, Emily returned with her “second best” Teddy Bear. She placed it lovingly under Mommy’s chin. “There that should make you feel better Mom!”
She was committing her Teddy Bear to a long-term placement.
Her vacillation about which Teddy to give had delayed her return.
She knew that she needed her most favorite Teddy for herself later that night.
So she decided to bring another.
Life’s comfort comes from varied sources. Sometimes they carry mixed motivations.
We long to comfort others. Are we willing to risk releasing the support systems we have securely placed around us to help another person? Have you ever shared a friend, and lost them? There is a risk in sharing. We are careful to ensure our own support system is always available. What or who represents your Teddy bear or “Blankie”?
Emily wasn’t willing to risk with abandon yet.
She was wise enough to recognize her own needs.
She knew she needed her own Teddy for her personal bedtime companion.
Have you given and given until you have nothing left for yourself?
God expects us to care for and consider ourselves too.
Are you as wise as Emily is? Do you have a comfort source waiting?
My prayer is that you will recognize and accept the FIRST PLACE comfort of the HOLY SPIRIT.
He is available 24/7/366- yes, even on Leap year.
Isaiah 51:12- “I even I am He that comforteth you”
Matthew 5:4- “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted”
John 14:26-“The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost….will teach you.”
