OCTOBER 12 – Genesis 5:24-“Enoch walked with God”

 ORDINARY

I want to be the exception, doing great exploits for my Lord.

He said, “Child be so ordinary that folk see only Me on board.”

I wanted to work in superlatives. I wanted to claim turf abroad.

God said, “Child keep on going. You have plenty to do on home sod.”

I wanted to be extraordinary. I have heard sermons proclaiming this.

My ego was filled with endeavors. I was reminded those ideas weren’t His.

I wanted to be someone special. I had fine aims and ideas with goals.

God said, “Just be ordinary, my precious. Ordinary folk can carry live coals.”

JOURNAL JOTTINGS: In a society of overachievers, the humble, faithful servants are rarely noticed.

Journal the life of the most humble person you know. What made them great from God’s Point of View.

Challenge: Find a servant’s task and do it well. Journal the joys you find in that project. KEEP it a secret between you and the Lord. It might be something different every day. E.g. Trash pick up, verbally blessing someone no one else notices…etc.

DEAR LORD, Keep our eyes focused on what pleases YOU rather than on what pleases those around us.

Grow a servant’s heart in me today. Thank you for the privilege of serving in the way that YOU would today. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN
