OCTOBER 19- John 18:36-“My kingdom is not of this world”

 MY INNERMOST

If I want to serve to the uttermost,

If I want to bless my Lord,

Then I need to check my innermost

Because the innermost holds the cord.

Cords of a religious spirit,

Cords of successful plans,

Cords of my own agendas

Cords of “Let’s do it again”

Success can tangle the innermost.

Wealth can distract for a while

Dealing obediently with the innermost

Will perpetuate my Father’s smile.

Let me soak in His daily Presence.

May I bask in His Word once more.

Then my cords will be well established

If a storm should shake to the core.

I do not know my tomorrows.

But I know to Whom I’ll cling.

If the cords of my inner being.

Are entwined with Him, I will sing.

JOURNAL JOTTINGS: What kinds of good, traditional cords might stifle the plans of the Father?

Journal a list. (E.g. Dos and don’ts)  Look at the list again with YOURSELF in mind. Are any of them holding YOU in bondage? List the cords that are strengthening, freeing and Holy Spirit inspired. Compare the lists. OUCH!

DEAR LORD, Forgive pride in my well- established comfort zones. Give me peace as I examine meaningless, traditional religious ideas and rituals. Sift me by Your Holy Spirit until all that is left in my innermost being are the strong cords that you intended as declared in YOUR WORD. Thank you Lord, for the simplicity of the strong cords that You designed to empower and strengthen me for YOUR Honor. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN
