WHAT AM I MADE OF?

What am I made of, Dear Jesus, when disaster comes my way?

What is the real fiber of my being revealed in crisis today?

Am I sometimes a social misfit? Am I a clown in ill fitting clothes?

Or am I a God ordained hero unselfishly rescuing when nobody knows?

I am a product of my inner thought life. I am whatever I choose to be.

I’ll choose to obey my Jesus. Serving Him in thought, word and deed.

Lord, what am I truly made of when crisis knocks on my door?

For whatever I am in secret will be revealed in a crisis war.

So prune me well in Your Service. Shake off my superfluous pride.

Whatever erupts through life’s disasters I will not be able to hide.

I’ll pick up Your towel and basin as I wash folk’s feet with Your Love.

Whoever You bring to my table will be served with Your Joy from above.

POINTS TO PONDER- Think of the folk you see daily. How can you have a basin and towel ministry to them? What might you learn from them? What is God trying to teach you with each encounter with them? Have you ever gone the “second mile” with little or no gratitude? What kept you going beyond the first few yards? Journal your Servant’s journey.

Dear Lord,  Thank you for the disciplines of the basin and towel ministry. Keep me alert enough to wash feet for Your honor. Help me to have the wisdom to know when to wash someone’s feet both literally and figuratively. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
