Matthew 26:40- “Watch with Me.”
Remember to read “My Utmost for His Highest” for Today
THEY FELL ASLEEP
They fell asleep, Lord Jesus when you asked them to watch and pray.
They fell asleep, Lord Jesus. Those who were with You everyday.
They fell asleep, Lord Jesus when Your soul was in deep despair.
The fell asleep, Lord Jesus, before personalizing any prayer.
Lord, forgive our daily slumber when the atmosphere is dark.
It is easier to shut all agony out if laziness decides to park!
Lord, forgive our passive praying when distractions crowd our day.
Forgive our lethargic interest offering the enemy timely sway.
Help us keep awake beyond endurance. Keep us alert when frailty calls.
May we remain in travail, interceding until the enemy falls.
Rest is wise and needful, but prayer becomes vital too.
Interceding with the Father is our assignment long overdue.

PONDER- Loving and caring beyond natural, human ability separates prayer warriors and intercessors from the crowd. List the times you have travailed in prayer until the answer came. Journal the results. It is easy to fall asleep praying. Perhaps you need to choose a different time of day to pray so that you remain alert. Insomniacs often spend time praying. Is God assigning you some prayer projects? Keep lists of answers to prayer burdens. Journal your praying pilgrimage. Watch for times of added prayer. E.G. waiting in line, waiting rooms, traveling time, etc.
DEAR LORD, Thank you for the privileges of prayer. Thank you for the burden of intercessory prayer that You laid on my heart. May I be a faithful prayer warrior. Help me to pray without ceasing. Keep me alert to times when I can pray. Help me teach others the value of prayer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
