SUBMISSION

I swallowed a gallon of pride today

Visitation day had come.

I was told I could visit my child

If  I submitted to supervision of one.

“I will not do this”, my anger said.

“I will not submit to this plan.”

But if I wanted a relationship with my child

I must  submit to that supervised hand.

Grandparents, parents and relatives all

Are told how and when to meet.

Sadly some are refusing to come.

Relationships are stifled, not sweet.

Swallow your pride, pick up the phone.

Travel far and create quality time.

Today might be the last time you have

In humility with pride dropped, you’ll refine.

It is not the child’s fault that this comes.

Perhaps fear or revenge set the pace

The custodial parent is frightened somehow

With God's Love, I will those fears erase

I’ll submit to the program, I’ll obey all the rules.

This child is more important to me

Than any control that any parent might have

God’s peace with His surveillance come free.

Many parents and grandparents are depriving themselves of wonderful relationships because their pride keeps them from submitting to the controlling supervision rules of a fearful custodial parent. GOD has given this child as your assignment. God will reward your faithfulness to that precious child. Perhaps the supervisor will be won to Christ too. You are not alone. Be faithful weary Pilgrim.
