GLAD I’M NOT THE TURKEY
The family clapped when Grandma brought the enormous, golden turkey steaming hot to the table to be carved by Gramps. The family feast was finally ready.
Gramps held the carving knife mid air a moment and said, “Let’s have the children tell us something for which they are thankful today before we all dig in.”
Wonderful, heart -warming remarks were spoken. Gratitude permeated the comments. The children all made age appropriate contributions.
Impatient, hungry Billy, remained silent. He was starving and wanted to get on with the meal. They had just brought him in from an exciting street hockey game.
Finally, Gramps turned to him for this comment. “What about you, Billy, what are you thankful for today?”
Billy hesitated a minute and with a sigh declared, “Sure thankful I’m not that turkey!”
1Thes. 5:8-“In everything give thanks, for this is the Will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Sometimes gratitude is best expressed by thanking God for what we are NOT going to have to go through!!
