WINTER BEAR
True story- Inspired by a loving child
Saffron appreciated her cuddly blue bear because it was given to her by a classmate buddy from her old school. Winter Bear had a fluffy blue coat with sparkling snowflakes printed on its scarf and coat. Nanny hugged him as soon as she saw him and carried him buttoned inside her cozy jacket while she sipped tea in the fellowship room before church. Saffron was delighted that Nanny took to her bear so quickly, but actually thought Nanny looked rather silly. Winter Bear felt welcomed the ride and smiled at everyone who greeted him. He was a friendly bear.
Saffron had decided that Nanny needed to write more stories for her web site. Nanny was weary and really didn’t feel like it. Saffron had a plan. She decided to take Winter Bear to church and see if Nanny would become inspired again.
To be certain that Winter Bear behaved in church, Saffron sat beside Nanny and Winter Bear. This was Winter Bear’s first time in church. Saffron hoped he would behave.
When the worship music began to play, Nanny clapped and sang. Saffron hugged her bear. She was disappointed that Nanny didn’t hold Winter Bear on her lap.
Suddenly, Saffron felt some movement. Nanny had taken hold of Winter Bear’s mitten and was trying to teach Winter Bear how to dance to the music. Saffron took Winter Bear’s other paw and between them Winter Bear worshipped in dancing tempo while Saffron and Nanny sang together. Winter Bear thought church was fun. Nanny was encouraged. God must have smiled too!
How happy Winter Bear looked sharing joy with Nanny and Saffron! Saffron’s heart was warmed because she knew she had listened to God’s idea.
Later, Saffron gave Nanny the privilege of taking Winter Bear home for a few days. Guess what? Nanny is writing stories again!
